Up the Maggies
Line-up's pages for season's 1969/70
are now available,
1969/70 being the season in which Jimmy Sirrel first took charge and 1970/71 the
famous record breaking 4th tier championship campaign.
Check out Andrew Brown's
youtube channel for rare Notts footage including around 20 minutes
highlights of Ipswich Town 1 Notts 3 from 1981/82 with the famous wonder goal scored by
Gordon Mair, also Sunderland away from the same season plus Central News East reports from 1988/89
including John Barnwell's sacking and Neil Warnock being appointed.
Added stats pages for season's 1946/47
through to 1957/58.
Most of the opposition scorers are missing for the 1940's campaigns, but
the 1950's are pretty much complete.
RIP Tony Hateley
Added a line-ups page for season 1971/72,
this being County's return to the 3rd tier after
being promoted as champions of the 4th tier under Jimmy Sirrel. Notts almost made it
a double promotion to the old 2nd division -The Magpies' final points tally would have been
enough to go up in 4 of the previous 5 season's at that level.
Also added a stats page for season 1958/59.
A televised Notts match that I was previously
unaware of is highlights of the 1st October 1994
defeat at Reading, from which 10 minutes of action was shown in the ITV South region on the
Sunday afternoon "Meridian Match" with Peter Brackley commentating. You can view it on
youtube here. The uploader has labelled the footage as being from the 1993/94 season, but
it is in fact from 1994/95, shortly after Russell Slade had taken charge following
the sacking of Mick Walker.
A line-up's page for the promotion season of 1972/73
is now up. Note that Neil Warnock played
for Scunthorpe United at Meadow Lane that year whilst the future unpopular Notts goalkeeper Seamus
McDonagh pushed a Jon Nixon cross into his own net whilst playing for Rotherham at Millmoor.
There's also a page for the return season to the 2nd tier - 1973/74, though this is currently missing
many of the opposition line-up's.
The FA Cup page now includes the results from the peace time years, 1919/20-1938/39, and a match
report for the epic Quarter-final replay at Aston Villa in 1922.
Line-up's pages for 1974/75
(the season Manchester United were in the 2nd tier) and
1999/00 (the campaign in which Sam Allardyce quit and Gary Brazil took charge) are
now available, both include all of the opposition's players.
Opposition line-up's for season 1987/88
are now complete.
Missing goal-times for dozens of 1970's/80's games also added.
Added a stats page for the 1959/60
promotion season and there are now line-up's pages for the
1975/76 season and the 4th tier championship season of 1997/98 under Sam Allardyce.
Missing matchday programme covers are also continuously being added to the various line up's pages.
season line-up's page is now up, although it is currently missing most
of the opposition line-up's.
Added the Panini "Football League 96" Notts stickers to the 1995/96 page.
The 1996/97 line-up's page is now complete and there was also a missing 'Notts on the Box' entry for that season,
8 minutes of action from the away game at Bristol City was shown on The West Match Plus, you can view it on
youtube, though be warned that it is a video nasty, see here.
A line-up's page is now available for season 1977/78,
this is complete for both Notts and their opponents except for the
Anglo-Scottish Cup group stage opponents, details for which were not included in Rothman's Football Yearbook.
There's also a complete line-up's page for 1998/99, the season Notts successfully avoided relegation from the 3rd tier under Sam Allardyce.
Going backwards through match details of the 1970's, we're picking up the odd mistake or two in the official history books, these are
all being logged on this page. At the bottom of that page you'll also find a list of County Cup results, though researching these
has proved difficult and we're missing a great many scorers from these games, so if anybody has any missing one's to hand -
do please get in touch with us at email@example.com.
All opposition line-up's are now included for
as well as the promotion season of 1980/81
1994/95 and 1995/96 are now virtually complete (just a handful of opponents' line-up's are missing on each of these pages).
Added stats pages for season's 1960/61, 1961/62, 1962/63 and 1963/64, all with squad photo's.
Also added more screen grabs to the Notts on the box section. The Past Seasons index now includes
at-a-glance final WDL tallies for home and away as well as combined, and the Head to Head section now includes
Bradford City, Bristol Rovers, Chesterfield, Millwall and Rotherham United games dating back to 1959/60.
A stats page is now up for season 1964/65,
there's also a page of all Notts' post-war FA
Cup results and
we have a team line-up's page for season 1978/79 as well as completing those for 1986/87 and 1988/89.
